"You tell the story, we set the tone".
Musikgarten

Musikgarten is the leader in early childhood music education — for children and parents.  We offer a complete multi-year educational program that helps infants, toddlers, and children develop a deep love of music and the ability to express it.  We have wonderful recordings of the songs sung in class, age-appropriate instruments, and parent guidebooks.  These home materials reinforce lessons and involve the whole family in the fun.

Babies & Toddlers (0-3.5)

Family Music For Babies & Toddlers
Starting music classes early not only benefits your child, but strengthens the bond you share with each other and the family as a whole.  Heighten your baby’s musical curiosity, create a sense of beat, and develop listening skills with silly games and activities that they will definitely get a giggle out of!

  • Family Music For Babies (ages 0-18 months)

  • Family Music For Toddlers (ages 16 months-3 1/2 years)

Blossoming Music Makers (3-7)

You and your child can celebrate early childhood independence through musical activities with Cycle of the Seasons!  Enjoy and nurture their discoveries of nature and self-expression as they sing and dance their way through the seasons of the year.  Use of small instruments, games, focused listening, creative movement and storytelling are what make these classes fun!

Continue the musical start you have given your child through the Cycle of Seasons classes with Music Makers.  Singing skills are further developed, and listening, symbolic thinking, concentration, memory and self-expression are increased through creative and structured movement, playing instruments and ensemble work.

  • Cycle of Seasons: Wind Dancers, Sun Catchers (ages 3-5)

  • Cycle of Seasons: Summer (ages 3-5)

  • Music Makers At Home In The World (ages 4-7)

Art Education

CHILDREN ARE NATURALLY CURIOUS. FROM THE MINUTE THEY GAIN CONTROL OF THEIR LIMBS, THEY WORK TO PUT THEMSELVES OUT INTO THE WORLD TO SEE HOW IT ALL WORKS. THEY EXPLORE, OBSERVE AND IMITATE, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THINGS OPERATE AND HOW TO CONTROL THEMSELVES AND THEIR ENVIRONMENTS. THIS UNRESTRICTED EXPLORATION HELPS CHILDREN LEARN AND ITS ALSO FUN

SKILLS YOUNGSTERS PRACTICE WHEN PARTICIPATING IN ART ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

  • Fine motor skills – Grasping pencils, crayons, chalk and paintbrushes helps children develop their fine motor muscles. This development will help your child with writing, buttoning a coat and other tasks that require controlled movements.

  • Cognitive development – Art can help children learn and practice skills like patterning and cause and effect (i.e., “If I push very hard with a crayon, the color is darker.”). They can also practice critical thinking skills by making a mental plan or picture of what they intend to create and following through on their plan.

  • Math skills – Children can learn, create and begin to understand concepts like size, shape, making comparisons, counting and spatial reasoning.

  • Focus on the process, not the product – Encouraging the child in the action of unstructured art helps them work with intrinsic motivation. It teaches them to express themselves freely, without worrying about what others think. If a lot of attention is given to the final product or we spend a lot of energy praising the end result, a child may be more likely to do things to get your approval instead of doing what they want to do. Part of focusing on the process involves encouraging effort; exploration and effort are more important than the end product. Notice their hard work!
